Interviews
How to Answer Almost Any Interview Question
There is a blog entry on how to answer 23 of the most common interview questions. For people who don’t have experience interviewing, this is a good guideline. I especially like the answer for #20.
But we shouldn’t really need a list of stock answers to interview questions, there should be a formula for it.
‘Why Should I Hire You?’ and Other Favorite Interview Questions
ComputerWorld did an article on interview questions.
The article basically gives you tips on how to answer certain tough questions. I’ll list them and I’ll give my thoughts/answers to some of these questions.
Job Interview: What’s the Most Important Skill to Display?
What’s the most important skill to display during a job interview? It’s your people skills. It’s not the “I can work in a team” type people skills, but it’s how you interact with the interviewers. If you gain solid rapport with your interviewers you’re pretty much in. This might be hard to do if you’re not experienced in job interviews. It might also be hard if your people skills suck. Here are some quick tips on gaining rapport.
Job Interview Question: So What’s Your Weakness?
Here is another common question I got from job interviews, “what is your biggest weakness?” I actually asked a few of my friends this question just to see what they would say. They all said something to the effect of, “I’m a perfectionist. I like to make everything too perfect.” Man, I really hope that’s not their actual answer. I seriously hope they were joking with me. That is such a cliched answer. I would roll my eyes and bury my head in my hands if a candidate answered it that way to me.
Why are Manhole Covers Round?
From every interview I went, this was everyone’s favorite logic question. Interviewers shouldn’t ask logic questions in general because there’s usually one answer to a logic question. Also most people can read a book or go to a web site to find the correct answer.
